Corymbia is a beautifully restored 1930s brick veneer home, originally built by a local builder during the World War I and World War II era. The project involved a comprehensive renovation and extension that seamlessly blended heritage charm with modern functionality.
The renovation respected the home’s original character, with careful restoration of period features such as custom timber sash windows, intricate fretwork, and exposed rafters on the front verandah. Inside, the home was transformed with a luxurious master suite, updated bedrooms, and high-end bathrooms that complement the period style while providing modern convenience. A new hallway with native timber flooring elegantly connects the old and new sections of the home.
The extension introduces a light-filled, open-plan living area with high raked ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass, and a feature brick wall with a double-sided heater, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. The exterior transformation includes a 7x4 meter swimming pool, a native timber deck, and a guest house that mirrors the design of the main residence, providing a cohesive and inviting outdoor space.
Sustainability was a key focus, with design choices that maximized energy efficiency, including high-quality insulation, north-facing orientation, and eco-friendly construction methods. The project’s success was driven by a collaborative approach between the builder, owner, and architect, resulting in a home that beautifully balances old-world charm with modern sophistication.
Corymbia was awarded the Master Builders Renovations and Additions Award in the Western Region, celebrating its excellence in design, craftsmanship, and client satisfaction.
