Welcome to PV Homes

A Hello from Peter Parkes

G'day, I'm Peter Parkes, one of the directors at PV Homes along with Vince Williamson. This is our first blog post. Each week I'll put up some practical tips, a bit of local news and a few things we've learnt on our builds around Dubbo.

Why PV Homes

I've been building around the region for years through Peter Parkes Design and Construct, and with Vince through PV Projects. PV Projects keeps going as normal. PV Homes is a new name alongside it that looks after new homes.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that people remember how the build went just as much as the house itself. So that's what we're focused on: making the build a good one, with the same crew and know-how behind PV Projects.

How we work

We keep you in the loop. Luke McConochie and I are your main contacts, so you'll be dealing with people who know your job. We answer the phone, we give you straight answers, and we'll let you know how things are going, not just when there's a problem.

We do what we say. Realistic timeframes, clear pricing upfront, and we turn up when we say we will. If something changes on site, you'll hear about it early and we'll tell you how we're going to sort it.

We do the job properly. We use good local trades we trust and we're on site keeping an eye on things at every stage. If our name's on it, it has to be right.

What we build

  • Family homes: practical homes that suit the way you live.
  • Custom homes: built to suit your block, your budget and your style.
  • Knockdown rebuilds: stay in the street you like with a new house.
  • Rural and acreage homes: we know the extra planning that comes with building out of town.
  • Our home designs: if you'd rather start from a plan that works, we've got a range of existing designs to pick from. We're also working on the Natural Collection, a new set of designs. Bush Peach is the first one, with four more to come.

What's happening at the moment

Interest rates are up.

The Reserve Bank lifted the cash rate to 4.60 per cent in late September. Have a chat to your lender or broker early so you know your budget before you start.

Costs are still going up.

Building costs rose 1 per cent over the September quarter and 3.2 per cent over the year, and good tradies are hard to get. That's why getting the planning and pricing right at the start matters.

Help for first home buyers.

Eligible first home buyers in NSW pay no transfer duty on vacant land up to $350,000 or a new home up to $800,000, and the federal 5% Deposit Scheme can help if you've got a smaller deposit. Conditions apply, so check with Revenue NSW and your lender.

More land coming.

Dubbo Regional Council has 64 more lots on the way at Keswick Estate, and the bigger North-West Urban Release Area is planned down the track. If you're looking at a block, give us a call before you buy and we'll help you work out if it suits what you want to build.

Give us a call

The easiest way to start is a yarn. Bring your ideas, your questions or a rough wish list, and Luke or I will help you work out what's possible.

Cheers, Peter Parkes PV Homes
